New Supplemental Health Curriculum

The Rialto Unified School District is adopting updated supplemental materials to be in compliance with Assembly Bill 329- The California Healthy Youth Act (effective January 1, 2016)   This Act mandates that all districts provide Comprehensive Sexual Health Instruction.

Positive Prevention PLUS will be supplemental materials that have 13 lessons to be taught in the RUSD 7th grade Life Science and High School Health courses.

In the 7th grade Life Science class, Positive Prevention Plus materials will be used to teach this unit. These materials are designed to assist students in developing their potential for assuming increased responsibility for their personal health, health issues they face or will face in their lifetime. The Positive Prevention Plus materials for this unit are guided by several state laws, teaching that abstinence from sexual intercourse is the only 100% effective protection against unwanted teenage pregnancy, sexually transmitted diseases, and Acquired Deficiency Syndrome (AIDS) when transmitted sexually.
