Armando Urteaga Kolb Middle School Principal Wins Educator of the Year

Principal Armando Urteaga Selected as “Educator of the Year” from the California League of Middle Schools

On behalf of the Rialto Unified School District Board of Education and Superintendent  Dr. Cuauhtémoc Avila, we proudly congratulate Mr. Armando Urteaga, Kolb Middle School principal, who has been selected by the California League of Middle Schools (CLMS) as “Educator of the Year” (EOY) for Region 10.


In addition to his EOY award, Mr. Urteaga has also earned the “VIP” distinction, which is a prestigious honor shared by only one other recipient from 14 total honorees in the Region. Mr. Urteaga, will be formally recognized on December 9, 2019, at a dinner ceremony held at the Riverside Marriott. The veteran administrator, who was selected for “excellence in middle school administration,” has been employed by the RUSD since 2009. He previously earned the Association of California School Administrators (ACSA), Region 12, “Principal of the Year,” in 2017.


The CLMS, which is part of the California League of Schools, aims to assist K-12 educators improve student learning by offering professional development and a variety of valuable resources.


The District is proud of Mr. Urteaga for the work that he does to improve the lives of our young scholars, and teachers, through inspiration and education.
