Jennifer Cuevas - KMS Principal Greetings parents, students, and community members. My name is Jennifer Cuevas and I am the new Principal at Kucera Middle School in the Rialto Unified School District. It is with tremendous excitement and enthusiasm that I share this with you. The 2023-2024 school year marks my sixth year as an administrator in Rialto and my 17th year overall as an educator. I began my career as a middle school math teacher in 2006 and I have recently served this community as Assistant Principal at Carter High School and Eisenhower High School. This past school year I also worked as the Acting Principal at Carter High School. I am committed to supporting Kucera as we strive to be a middle school of exceptional distinction. |

November 6, 2023 Dear Coyote Families, Kucera Middle School has planned a school-wide field trip for December 14th, 2023, to Knott’s Berry Farm. The trip is open to all grade levels, but all students must meet the Extracurricular Activities Eligibility Requirements. The Eligibility Requirements are as follows: ● No suspensions within the quarter or within 30 days of the event ● No fines or outstanding balance on the student ASB account ● No violations of Behavior Contracts through the Intervention Office ● No more than 7 tardies for any given class period ● No more than 5 full day unexcused absences Tickets will be $80 and will be available for sale to all students at the ASB Office from November 8-17, permission slips required. Ticket sales are first come, first serve due to limited availability. Deadline to purchase tickets is November 17th by 3:00 pm, NO EXCEPTIONS! We will not be accepting any season passholder tickets for this trip. Notice: If your student has earned a Knott’s Berry Farm ticket through our Chocolate Fundraiser, they will be able to use this reward ticket for admission to Knott’s for this trip. If your student does not meet the eligibility requirements, they will not be allowed to participate in this trip. If a ticket has already been purchased, no refunds will be given. However, they will receive their ticket to attend Knott’s Berry Farm at a later date on their own time. Students attending this field trip will be leaving Kucera Middle School at 8:30am and are expected to return to campus at approximately 7:30-8pm. Please be on time in picking up your student from the horseshoe cutout, but be mindful not to block the entrance for the buses. It is required that students must ride the school bus to and from Kucera Middle School. There will be no parent pick-ups from Knott’s Berry Farm. Remember to bring necessary items to the theme park, such as a jacket and money for food and/or souvenirs. We will be attending rain or shine. To support Kucera and ensure your student’s success, please monitor your student’s attendance, citizenship, along with class and home assignments to reinforce proper academic behavior.

Attached is Secondary Reclassification Criteria 23-24. Reclassification is the process that determines whether an English Learner should be redesignated as a Fluent English Proficient (R-FEP). Reclassification relies on evidence demonstrating that the student has achieved a level of English proficiency comparable to that of average native speakers of English in the district, and is achieving and sustaining a level of academic achievement comparable with students whose native language is English. District reclassification policies and procedures are aligned with California Department of Education guidelines.
