Mr. Curt Walsh

Welcome to the 2020/2021 school year here at Wilmer Amina Carter High School. As the Program Specialists (Dean), the best part of my job is seeing students grow from when they come here as freshman, not knowing what to expect, and develope into amazing human beings by the time they graduate. At Carter we are all about supportive measures not punitive. Over the past four years we have reduced our suspension rate by 55%, with African American rate reduction of 37%. We believe that this reduction is directly related to the amazing work of our PBIS team to have a Respectuful, Responsible and Safe campus. In addition the restorative practices we have implemented has students communicating with each other and staff much better using affective statement techniques.

I am currently working on a Doctorate in Educational Leadership, over half way completed, with an emphasis on 8th to 9th grade transition. The hope is to develope techniques to help students during this very difficult transition.  I hold a BA in Special Education,  a masters degree in Instruction and curriculum, and a masters in educational leadeship.
