  • Q: What is Measure A?
    A: Measure A is the Rialto Unified School District Classroom Upgrade/Health/Safety Measure.

    Q: What repairs and upgrades are included in Measure A?
    A: Many schools in the Rialto Unified School District were built over fifty years ago, and all of them need some basic repairs. Measure A provides funds to remove asbestos, lead paint, and mold; replace leaking roofs, decaying walls, broken plumbing, and bathrooms; upgrade electrical systems and wiring for computer technology, and to install new windows and proper insulation among other items. 

    Q: What health and safety upgrades are included in Measure A?
    A: Keeping our students safe while they are in school is a top priority. Unfortunately, many of our local schools have outdated security and safety features, from aging smoke alarms and fire safety to inadequate safety lighting, fencing, and emergency communications systems. Measure A not only makes basic repairs to our aging and outdated safety systems, it also upgrades campus security so that we can keep intruders out and our teachers and children safe.

    Q: What does Measure A do for our local high schools?
    A: All four of our local high schools - Carter, Eisenhower, Rialto, and Milor High – need upgrades. Measure A would help us remove dozens of outdated portable classrooms, upgrade science and engineering labs and keep career and vocational education classrooms up-to-date in order to provide a 21st-century education that is essential to prepare our high school students for their personal and career aspirations.

    Q: What fiscal accountability provisions are included in Measure A?
    A: Measure A requires the formation of an Independent Citizens Oversight Committee, annual audits to ensure no funds go towards administrators’ salaries and benefits, and public disclosure of all spending. By law, all Measure A funds must be used for Rialto Unified School District and cannot be taken by the state.

    A: Measure A is a $340,000,000 bond measure. If passed, it will cost the average homeowner 6 cents per $100 of assessed value.
