     NOTE: STUDENTS ON INTRA OR INTER DISTRICT TRANSFERS DO NOT QUALIFY FOR TRANSPORTATION.

    Does my student qualify for special transportation?

    Special transportation is provided for those students that qualify based on special circumstances. Some special circumstances include:

     

    SPECIAL SERVICES, per student's IEP

    Contact Special Services

    HEALTH REASONS, per Doctor's Note

    Contact Health Services for more information

    DISPLACED FAMILY (HOMELESS) OR FOSTER YOUTH, Per McKinney-Vento Form

    Contact Child Welfare and Attendance

     

     

    How Long Does It Take for Transportation To Be Effective?

    Regular Transportation (Distance from School)

    After confirming your student qualifies for transportation, routing info will be provided and can be effective as soon as the following day.

     

    Special Transportation (Special Circumstances)

    After Transportation Services receives a Bussing Service Request requesting Special Transportation for a student,  there is a 5-7 business day waiting period for transportation to be effective. 

    Students are routed in the order received.

    PLEASE NOTE: The first three weeks of school, there is a 5-10 business day waiting period for services to be effective.

     

    FOR STUDENTS THAT DO NOT QUALIFY FOR REGULAR OR SPECIAL TRANSPORTATION, OMNITRANS OFFERS A FREE FARES FOR SCHOOL PROGRAM

    Free Fares for School  

    Rialto Unified School District recognizes the value of having transportation available to our students.  Omnitrans has kindly offered to collaborate with our District to bring the Free Fares for School program to students attending Rialto Unified school sites.  Starting August 1, 2021, Omnitrans will offer free unlimited rides to students in grades K-12 as part of a six month pilot program. Students attending our schools will have an opportunity to receive a sticker to add to their school identification (ID) card to ride the bus on weekdays and weekends.  

    ***THE FREE FARES FOR SCHOOL PROGRAM HAS BEEN EXTENDED THROUGH THIS SUMMER AND THE 23-24 SCHOOL YEAR***

    All students who attend schools within the Omnitrans service area are allowed to show their school ID to ride any Omnitrans fixed-route bus for free any time, any day (including all Omnitrans local and freeway express routes and sbX rapid transit), enabling students to participate in after-school and weekend extracurricular activities.     This program does not change the District's current transportation program in any way.
